The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod
Vlad is a vampire. Eighth grade at Bathory Junior High really bites because Vlad is bullied. He drinks his food through blood bags his Aunt Nelly gets him from the hospital. Sometimes he has a hard time hiding his fangs. His parents died in a mysterious fire 3 years ago. In the middle of the term, Vlad’s teacher Mr. Craig suddenly disappears and he is replaced by a strange man named Mr. Otis. There is something about Mr. Otis that Vlad doesn’t like. Vlad visits his old house and finds a strange leather book in his father’s study. It glows and opens when Vlad puts his hand on the cover. It has strange markings on it. It tells of Elysia, a vampire world within our world. Mr. Otis knows Vlad’s secret about being a vampire and tells him that the council is after Vlad’s father, Tod. Vlad tells him tha t his father is dead, but they kidnap Aunt Nelly anyway. Mr. Otis , Vlad, and Henry, Vlad’s best friend, go to Elysia to rescue Aunt Nelly. Will they kill Vlad instead?

Evernight by Claudia Gray
Bianca doesn’t fit in at her new boarding school, the gloomy sinister Evernight Academy. Her parents are professors and they brought her to Evernight to broaden her horizons. She meets Lucas and immediately falls for him, though he seems to be an outsider as well. On the night of the Autumn Ball the reader finds out the truth – Bianca is a vampire as are most of the faculty and students at Evernight. She bites Lucas and causes him to pass out. Even though her secret is out, Lucas’secret that he is a vampire hunter is not. Their relationship grows until the Lucas’ secret gets exposed and Evernight faculty and students chase Lucas in an effort to kill him. Will Bianca choose to stay with Lucas even though he is a vampire hunter? Will the vampires from Evernight kill him?
